Schwelm, 30th July 2009 – VGH Viktoria Garten Hüttenindustriebedarf AG has appointed Dirk Pörzgen as a new Member of the Board. In his new position at VGH, Pörzgen assumes responsibilities for the Technical and Sales areas of the Schwelm based company.
Pörzgen is a graduated engineer who brings extensive technical know-how coupled with a wealth of experience from previous business roles in the refractory and the extractive industries.
Before joining VGH at the beginning of July, Pörzgen worked for Kerneos (previously: Lafarge Aluminate) in Oberhausen. Here, Pörzgen held the position of Local Market Manager Refractories for Germany, Austria and Iran.
Pörzgen started his career as a development engineer and laboratory and production manager at Didier Werke AG in the Bendorf factory. Additionally, Pörzgen brings further experience in development and application technologies from, for example, Plibrico in Neuwied and Intocast in Ratingen.
Pörzgen is to target expansion of VGH activities in East and West European countries. A further goal is to expand the VGH product lines in order to enhance VGH’s range of complete, tailor-made refractory solutions and to optimize the cost/benefit ratio. For Pörzgen this entails two key factors: firstly, gaining new partnerships with suppliers and secondly, developing new products and solutions for VGH.
VGH CEO, Thomas Günther, is happy to welcome Pörzgen on board: “With Dirk Pörzgen, we can intensify our activities on a wide front. His contact network and his know-how are a great bonus for VGH in the refractory market.”
